Abstract:
In the Nazis' prisoner of war camps (in Poland and in Germany) Polish army officers, including Jews, were interned together. The Polish Jewish non-commissioned soldiers were released, and they ended up in the ghettos in Poland, but not the officers. Focuses on memoirs of a Jewish lieutenant who was in the Woldenburg camp (western Poland). Letters that he wrote to prominent Jews, sent by post by the Polish officers, caused the International Red Cross to investigate the conditions of Jews in that camp, and those Jews survived the war.
