Abstract:
Analyzes the problem of the return of Jews to places where they lived before the war and how it is reflected in Polish Jewish postwar literature. Analyzes writings of Adolf Rudnicki, Henryk Grynberg, Michał Głowiński, Wilhelm Dichter, and others. Reflects on the psychological difficulties of the return of persons who had to face the total destruction of their families and their Jewish communities, as well as the hatred of their neighbors. Deals with problems related to the necessity of making a decision whether to remain in Poland or leave, as well as the dilemmas of writers between their Jewishness and their Polishness.
