Abstract:
Despite the stringent information blockade which the Nazi authorities imposed on the Warsaw ghetto, it was possible for the population to get some information about the fate of the Jews in other parts of Poland. Surveys fragments from Korczak's diary and his other writings, and contends that he did not believe (or did not want to believe) that resettlement of the Jews from the ghetto meant sending them to extermination camps. He wanted to believe that people were being sent for work to other places and that only old people and small children were in danger of death.
