Abstract:
Freiberg was 15 years old when he was deported to Sobibór. He participated in the prisoners' revolt in October 1943, escaped, and joined a partisan unit in the forests until the liberation. He was on the ship "Exodus" in 1947 which was captured by the British on its way to Palestine and sent back by the British. In 1948 he arrived in Israel and joined the military. He testified about his experiences in Sobibór at the Eichmann trial, at a trial in West Germany in 1965, and at the Demjanjuk trial. He wrote four books, and frequently lectured to soldiers, students, and educational organizations on the Holocaust. Freiberg died in Ramle in 2008.
