Abstract:
Examines attitudes of non-Jewish students at Italian universities toward the expulsion of Jewish students and lecturers from their institutions, in 1938 and after, as a consequence of the Racial Laws. States that most of the students identified with the segregation of Jews, or were indifferent to their fate. The Catholic student organizations had an ambivalent attitude, influenced by traditional antisemitic stereotypes. The Fascist student organizations and their press contributed to the spread of antisemitic propaganda.
