Abstract:
Jewish childhood was largely saved in Italy from deportation and extermination through a complex combination of courage on the part of parents,encounters with generous people, actions and strategies implemented bysecular and religious organizations, silence, and concrete help. They weremonths of fear, isolation, changes of names and places, and sometimes ofgames, adventures and attempts of adults to build simulacra of normality.The essay tries to identify the stages, strategies, and protagonists of thatsalvation who were trying to enhance the experience and the voices of boysand girls.
