Abstract:
Analyzes the moral dilemma of the Holocaust survivor as reflected in Primo Levi's writings. Levi frequently echoed the shame of the survivor for remaining alive when millions of others perished in the camps, feelings of guilt, and the constant suspicion of "misbehavior" and maybe collaboration. Discusses Levi's description of the human condition in the camps, especially in Auschwitz, as well as his thoughts on God vs. the inferno of the concentration camp.
