Abstract:
Asserts that antisemitism is widespread all over Europe, even in countries where there are almost no Jews, like Poland. Surveys the history of Jews in Poland and anti-Jewish attacks from the time of the first Crusades. Mentions defamation of Jews in Polish literature and their exclusion from Christian society, which prevented their assimilation. After the Holocaust only 10% of Polish Jews survived, but the Jew-hatred of the population persisted, as proved by the Kielce pogrom in 1946. Jews were held responsible even for the controversy between the Church and the communist authorities. Mentions Polish anti-Zionism since 1967, and anti-Jewish incitements in this country without Jews.
