A comparison between three depictions of the figure of the Court Jew Joseph Süss Oppenheimer: Wilhelm Hauff's novella of 1827, Lion Feuchtwanger's novel of 1925, and the Nazi film of 1940. Elucidates the process by which literary material was transformed into antisemitic Nazi propaganda.
