Abstract:
Kantorowicz, a German Jewish journalist, editor publisher, and writer of prose, who was strongly anti-Nazi, fled from Germany to France in 1933, where he continued to publish his anti-Nazi and other works. In 1941 he left France for the U.S.A. In 1946 he returned and settled in East Germany, where he became a professor of German literature at the Humboldt University in Berlin. There he began to focus his research on German Exilliteratur. In 1957 he escaped to West Germany where he remained until his death.
