Abstract:
Discusses the political situation in the north of France before the Dreyfus Affair, the struggle between Christian conservative and socialist blocs, and the place of antisemitism in this struggle, based mainly on the press of the period. Deals with the growth of antisemitism during the Dreyfus Affair, its influence on the elections in 1898, and antisemitic press campaigns. States that after the Affair antisemitism lost its importance, and the struggle intensified between Catholic circles and anticlericals who were the real problem for the Church.
