Abstract:
The canon is underestimated today. To the advantage of what, historically, precedes it. Though there is no tradition without canon, and no canon without a tradition preceding it and answering for it, even in criticism. Every canon is inscribed in a history and opens up a perspective, but the contemporary doxa tends to refute the moment. This is illustrated by the fact that, without specific reflection, the Old Testament is replaced by the Hebrew Bible, two symbolically and theologically different collections, or the Old and New Testament by First and Second, a process that can only cause great theological change, often unnoticed. After explaining his agreement with what Hans-Christoph Askani advances about the canon, Pierre Gisel differs in his reference to Christ and to the text.
