Abstract:
Discusses the final stages of the evacuation from Auschwitz (which began already in August 1944). Focuses on the final evacuation in January 1945, and liberation by the Soviets, as related in German police sources which include data regarding the death marches, memoirs of Jewish and Polish prisoners, and Soviet sources of the committee appointed to document the Nazi atrocities, which made a special effort to document the findings in liberated Auschwitz.
