Abstract:
A comparative analysis of the followers of Rabbi Zvi Yehudah Kook in Israel with those of Sayyid Qutb in Egypt, both of whom were religious leaders. In both countries, their followers wished to ring down their sitting governments by assassination (and succeeded). Concludes, however, that rather than providing a point for similarities, analysis of the fundamentalist-inspired assassinations of President Sadat in Egypt and Prime Minister Rabin in Israel point out the differences between Israeli-Jewish and Egyptian-Islamic fundamentalism.
