Abstract:
Presents an extract of a letter written by Sir Henry Ward, British High Commissioner of the Ionian Islands, describing the riot of Greeks against Jews in Ioannina in 1851, in which one Jew was killed. The Jews were accused of having sacrificed a lamb with many odious rites, spitting into the vessel containing holy water, and other misdemeanors. The author of the letter supposes that it was the French consulate which fomented the riot.
Note:
Including an extract of a letter written by Sir Henry Ward describing the incident.
