Abstract:
In the 4th-5th centuries, patristic literature and Church leaders condemned the Jews in theological works and urged their isolation from society. The Church, as an institution, acted similarly through council decrees. The Roman state applied discriminatory legislation that made any form of assimilation impossible for the Jews. Asserts that this was the beginning of the progressive juridical degradation and isolation of Jews in Europe, which led to the rise of the medieval ghetto.
