Abstract:
Defines different types of racism towards Jews and towards Africans in colonial Latin America, stemming from the racism in the Iberian Peninsula. Emphasizes the fact that although Jews were treated differently from Africans, they all suffered discrimination - even converted Jews. Points out links in the types of slavery practiced in the New World, as well as the cultural genocide that Jews historically suffered by being obliged to totally erase any characteristics of their culture.
