Abstract:
Explains types of texts which belong to the category of personal documents, e.g. testimonies, memoirs, letters, interviews, videotapes, etc., and discusses their specificity, their usefulness and problems regarding their use in Holocaust research. These issues have been discussed in the ongoing debate on Holocaust historiography by theoreticians of history. One aspect of the debate is the conflict between "historical discourse" and "memory discourse".
