Abstract:
The main aim of this article is to pay tribute to Jordi Casanovas miró, who passed away in march 2020. And what better way to do so than by presenting a new epigraph-bearing tombstone from the Jewish necropolis of montjuïc (Barcelona), identified through archaeological work conducted in early 2021? The monolith was discovered thank s to a member of the public, who found it on the montjuïc hillside, close to number 76 Avinguda miramar, and report-ed it. The work undertaken has resulted in the recovery of a new specimen of a tombstone with an epigraph. The tombstone is in good condition but was in a secondary position and, consequently, not associated with any of the tombs of the necropolis. Its inscription comprises three lines, the first of which is only par-tially preserved. Studying the tombstone has made it possible to transcribe and translate the inscription and, thus, to date it to the 14th century, specifically the year 1334.
