Abstract: The Last Jews of Libya documents the final decades of a centuries-old Sephardic Jewish community through the lives of the remarkable Roumani family. Thirty-six thousand Jews lived in Libya at the end of World War II, but not a single one remains today. A tale of war, cultural dislocation, and one family's ultimate perseverance, this fifty-minute film traces the story of the Roumanis of Benghazi, Libya from Turkish Ottoman rule through the age of Mussolini and Hitler to the final destruction and dispersal of Libya's Jews in the face of Arab nationalism. Based on the recently discovered memoirs of the family's matriarch, Elise Roumani, as well as interviews in English, Hebrew, Italian, and Arabic with several generations of the Roumani family and a trove of rare archival film and photographs, it is an unforgettable tale. The Last Jews of Libya is the story of an ancient community transformed by modern European culture, buffeted by Fascism and Arab nationalism, and ultimately saved through the strength of its Jewish tradition and faith. Abstract: This film concerns the relationship between Arabs and Jews in the Holy Land, as experienced by one middle-class Arab Christian family in Nazareth from the Arab-Israeli war of 1948 through the present. It is life played as a deadpan farce, one in which all parties repeat the same gestures to the point of meaninglessness. Suleiman looks through the conflict to human reality, and finds in the story of his own family's disintegration the universal pathos and tragedy of the parent-child relationship. And the tragedy that the gorgeous days and clear nights will be the same in this beautiful country no matter who lives and who dies, or whichever tribe is in control

Abstract: At the turn of the century, Jews and Arabs lived together peacefully in northern Israel. Then the arrival of orthodox Jews created an imbalance. As Ashkenazi Jews came to redeem lands in the Holy Land in the beginning of the 20th century, the relationship between Hebron's Sephardic Jews and Palestinians was disrupted. The unrest culminated in a bloody massacre 1929, when local Arabs killed 67 members of the Jewish community. In "What I saw in Hebron" filmmaker Noit Geva tells the story of her grandmother, Zemira Mani, who survived the massacre because an Arab neighbor saved her.

Abstract: Die Palästinenser Khaled (Ali Suliman) und Saïd (Kais Nashef) sind seit ihrer Kindheit gute Freunde.

Abstract: Created by Sayed Kashua, an Israeli-born Palestinian journalist, Arab Labor (translated from the Hebrew "Avoda Aravit", which colloquially implies "shoddy or second-rate work") focuses on Amjad Alian, a Palestinian journalist and Israeli citizen in search of his identity. Poking fun at the cultural divide, Kashua and his characters play on religious, cultural and political differences to daringly depict the mixed society that is Israel. This show marked a milestone on Israeli television as the first program to present Palestinian characters speaking Arabic on primetime, and it generated great controversy between Arab and Israeli media.
