Speech given to his family on occasion of his 70th birthday, November 11, 1939 in Hillegersberg (Rotterdam): childhood in Buchau; Gymnasium in Stuttgart; studied medicine in Tuebingen, Munich, Wuerzburg, Strassburg; courtship and marriage; service as doctor in World War I.
Abstract:
A second part, written in 1946 on occasion of his wife's birthday, covers the years 1933-1946: account of Kristallnacht; emigration to Netherlands; life in Scheveningen; German invasion; evacuation to Amsterdam in 1943; deportation to Westerbork; work as doctor at Westerbork; deportation to Theresienstadt; life and work in Theresienstadt; liberation, return to Netherlands.
