Discusses research on the historical Jesus published between the 18th-20th centuries, written by scholars who believed that Jesus was connected with the revolutionary activities of the Jews against Rome in his own time. This was and still is a controversial issue in Christian scholarship, especially regarding whether Jesus held political views at all, and whether he was much more opposed to the Roman rulers and their religion and culture than to those of the Jews.
