Abstract:
Analyzes the literary techniques used by Sachnowitz in his Holocaust memoir (published in Norwegian in 1976) in order to make it as precise and readable as possible. The great dilemma is "to describe the indescribable" when remembering the horrors of the death camps (Auschwitz, Bergen-Belsen). States that the mind cannot fathom the extent of the horror that is witnessed at that moment. Historical hindsight is used by the writer to make the text more precise and the plot structure keeps the reader alert. This Holocaust memoir is unique in that it is written by a Norwegian.
