Abstract:
Keeping a diary is a writing act which plays with the rationality of time flow. A diary is written in the present, day after day, but aims at a future reading. The diaries of the chosen corpus were deprived of any future and should not have survived, because they were written by young Jewish women between 1939 and 1944, all murdered by the Nazis: Rywka Lipszyc, Renia Spiegel, Etty Hillesum, and Anne Frank. Our reading is therefore that of witnesses giving back to those diaries the posteriority of which they have been dispossessed.
