Abstract:
Re-elaborating the genre of prophetic and biblical poetry of Bialik, Sutzkever adapted it in the context of his role as a poet in the Vilna ghetto. In "The City of Slaughter", composed after the pogrom in Kishinev in 1903, Bialik denounced the passivity of the Jews. In 1943 Sutzkever did the same in his Yiddish poem "Lid tsu di letste", where he expressed the disappointment of resisters with the lack of cooperation of the ghetto Jews in the plan for an armed revolt. Pp. 104-108 present Sutzkever's poem in Italian and Yiddish.
