Memoir by Marianne Opel describing her emigration to New Zealand including information on her stay in London; on life on the boat; on stops in Lisbon, Tangier and Marseilles; on her experiences in Colombo, Ceylon, and her detention in an internment camp for aliens; on her arrival in Sidney; on her impressions of life in Masterton, where she worked as household help for an elderly couple; and on her brother Fritz who was imprisonned in Germany for oppositional activities and later detained in France.
