Abstract:
Many years have passed since the first volume of “Studies in History” appeared in this series. However, a considerable number of historical papers are included in several volumes of Scipta Hierosolymitana. Like the first one, the present volume of historical studies reflects work being done by Hebrew University historians, most of them connected with the Department of History, the Department of Jewish History, the Department of Classics, the Institute of Asian and African Studies, and the Department of Contemporary Jewry. One should not, therefore, expect a central theme in a volume of this kind
