Abstract:
This is a collection of excerpts of published memoirs on Jewish childhood in Germany during the 19th century, focusing on the experience of "being different" in a Gentile environment. The collection contains fragments of the biographies of 20 famous German- Jewish men and women, who excelled as authors, economists, historians, painters, philosophers, physicians, politicians, psychologists, surgeons, teachers, and writers.
