Abstract:
Pp. 7-18 relate the conditions of distress of the Jewish community of Navarre in the 14th century, both from external persecution and internal conflicts. Shem Tov Ibn Shaprut (mid-14th-early 15th centuries) was a scholar, physician, and rabbi. Relates his disputation with Cardinal Pedro de Luna (later antipope Benedict XIII) in Pamplona in 1379, which he won. Pp. 23-55 discuss his polemical anti-Christian work "Even Bochan".
