Abstract:
Examines representation of the Holocaust in three films: "Triumph of the Spirit" (USA, 1989), "Schindler's List" (USA, 1993), and "La vita è bella" (Italy, 1998). Contends that these films misrepresent the reality of the Holocaust and distort its memory, and that the medium of the cinema is unsuitable for reconstruction of the historical reality of the Holocaust and the demonstration of its uniqueness.
