Abstract:
Zionism was born as a reaction to modern antisemitism, as one of the nationalist movements. Like all these movements, it has certain negative traits - it contains some extremist wings, and Israeli politics toward the Arabs has been oppressive. This, however, does not justify delegitimization of the Zionist idea. Argues that Israel is now subservient to the USA, playing the same role that medieval Jews did in serving their masters in order to implement the latter's policies. This function produces antisemitic and anti-Israeli reactions both in the Third World and in the USA.
