    Abstract: "Le 'Dictionaire historique et critique' de Pierre Bayle est depuis longtemps considéré comme un des ouvrages clés qui a non seulement effectué une influence importante à l'époque de sa parution, mais aussi sur le siècle des Lumières par la suite. Le présent ouvrage examine, dans un premier temps, le dictionnaire en tant que genre littéraire et fait ressortir les particularités du 'Dictionaire historique et critique.' Dans un deuxième temps, on s'intéresse à la question de savoir comment des aspects formels du texte baylien permettent à l'auteur de propager des argumentations sceptiques. Par ce moyen, le rapport entre la forme et le contenu devient visible. Dans un troisième temps, on s'interroge au même rapport entre la forme et le contenu mais en considérant la dimension historiographique de Pierre Bayle. Par cette étude, il devient possible de montrer que l'auteur se munit de différents outils de travail intellectuel pour faire part de sa pensée en choisissant le dictionnaire comme genre pour son texte."--Page 4 of printed paper wrapper

    Abstract: The book aims at bringing a significant contribution to the study of a prestigious figure of the French 17th century who, thanks to his intellectual achievements, became involved with the leading politicians of the time, including Cardinal Richelieu and the future Louis XIV. Unlike the previous critical studies about La Mothe Le Vayer, the book does not study exclusively the works in which he seemed to undermine the political order, but also takes into account the series of educational treatises that he wrote for the prince between 1640-1658. Adopting an interdisciplinary approach, which involves philosophical and literary concepts, the book is likely to deal with a question that could not be more relevant nowadays: should an intellectual who perceives the failings of the political order withdraw into the solitude of his library or get involved in politics in order to try to improve it?

    Abstract: Diese Arbeit untersucht autobiographische Romane, für deren Poetologie die Katastrophe der Shoah konstitutiv ist. Alle analysierten Schreibprojekte fokussieren den ästhetischen Fiktionalitätscharakter des Schreibens und setzen sich so binnenliterarisch von literarischen Verfahren ab, die durch ihre Rhetorik Effekte von Authentizität zu erzeugen suchen. Die komplexen Strategien autobiographischen Schreibens bei Danilo Kiš, Georges Perec, Raymond Federman, Hanna Krall sowie Georges-Arthur Goldschmidt reichen von postmoderner poetologischer Reflexion bis hin zu Versuchen fragmentierten historischen Erzählens. In genauen Lektüren wird aufgezeigt, dass die autobiographischen Schreibprojekte Erinnerungsarbeit in einer Reflexion sprachlicher Ausdrucksformen prozessieren. Die Voraussetzung einer Lebensgeschichte, die sich der erinnernden Vergegenwärtigung entzieht, wird zum Einsatzpunkt des autobiographischen Schreibens, wobei der Erfindung eine konstitutive Rolle in der Textproduktion zugeschrieben wird. In den Analysen dieses Buches wird herausgearbeitet, wie die Bedingungen autobiographischen Schreibens mit der Erinnerungsproblematik und der kollektiven Erfahrung der Verfolgung und Vernichtung korreliert sind; zentral ist dabei auch die Frage, welche Rolle die einzelnen AutorInnen dem ‚Judesein‘ und der Erfahrung des Antisemitismus in ihren Texten zuweisen.
