Abstract:
Reports on religious propaganda found on web sites of the Palestinian Lutheran, Anglican, Catholic, Baptist, and Greek Orthodox Churches, both in Israel and in the Palestinian Authority. Leaders of these Churches use the Internet, as well as public sermons and religious ceremonies, to spread anti-Zionist, anti-Israeli, and antisemitic propaganda. They describe the Palestinian Intifada in terms of Christian martyrology and denounce pro-Israeli Christians as "Christian Zionist" heretics. They use supersessionist theology and distort biblical texts to show that the Jews are no longer the "real Israel". Contends that Christian Arabs identify themselves mainly as Arabs; therefore, they have strong connections with Muslim society. Arab Christians and Muslims share a supersessionist view, since the latter also see themselves as having replaced the Jews. Although Palestinian Christian Internet sites help promote a "culture of hatred" toward Jews, no objections to these sites have been made by world Church associations.
