Abstract:
Describes the situation of the Jews in the Little Fortress (Malé Pevnosti) prison of Theresienstadt. Jewish prisoners endured especially harsh conditions, lacking minimal rights and medical care, and being the target of the brutality of the prison staff. Among the reasons for their arrest were violation of the anti-Jewish laws, "offenses" committed in the ghetto Theresienstadt, or resistance activities. Puts the number of Jews imprisoned in the Little Fortress at 1,216. Of them, 462 were deported to concentration camps (319 to Auschwitz), and 465 died or were executed in the prison. Jews constitute at least 18% of the 2,500 victims of the prison.
