Abstract

In the light of a northern location of Horonajim and a relationship with the dynasty of David (KAI 181:31), a historical core of the biblical texts claiming a Moabite connection of David can be worked out. According to this historical reconstruction, the dynasty of David would have been used by the Omrides in Transjordan to control part of Moab. The book of Ruth might also have preserved the tradition that the Davidic dynasty resided in Moab at some point and returned to Jerusalem from there.
