M.D. Knowles’s recent re-pointing of עלי to עלי in Ps 131,2bα on the basis of the half-line parallelism with Ps 131,2bβ may also affect the first instance of כגמל in that verse: perhaps it, too, should be re-pointed with the article as per the second instance of כגמל. Closer attention to the phenomenon of parallelism, however – both generally and in this particular verse – indicates that it cannot be used to decide the matter. Hence, arguments »from parallelism « must be used with extreme caution. While both readings remain possible and justifiable by means of parallelism, the present study nevertheless favors (building on Knowles) the following translation of v. 2bα: »Like the weaned child on me, its mother«.
La revocalisation récemment proposée par M. D. Knowles de עלי à עלי en Ps.131,2bα, sur la base du parallélisme avec le semi-colon au v. 2bβ, devrait également influencer la première attestation de כגמל dans ce verset. Peut-être faudrait-il également déterminer et vocaliser autrement ce mot, à l’instar de sa seconde attestation dans ce verset. Il faut cependant utiliser avec extrême precaution l’argumentation de critique textuelle et basée sur le parallélisme, car ce dernier justifie les deux lectures. Cette étude propose (à la suite de Knowles) la traduction suivante du v. 2bα: »Comme l’ enfant sevré sur moi, sa mère«.
Die von M. D. Knowles jüngst vorgeschlagene Umvokalisierung von עלי in עלי in Ps 131,2bα auf der Grundlage des halbzeiligen Parallelismus in Ps 131,2bβ dürfte auch Auswirkungen auf das erste Vorkommen von כגמל in diesem Vers haben: Vielleicht sollte auch dieses anders, nämlich determiniert, vokalisiert werden, wie das zweite Vorkommen von כגמל in diesem Vers. Dennoch sollte die textkritische Argumentation auf der Grundlage des Parallelismus mit äußerster Vorsicht eingesetzt werden. Dieser ermöglicht beide Lesarten. Die vorliegende Studie vertritt (in Weiterführung von Knowles) folgende Übersetzung von V. 2bα: »Wie das entwöhnte Kind auf mir, seiner Mutter«.
