Abstract:
In 1988 Paul Kester wrote about his childhood in Germany. Ten years later he continued writing his story, writing about his first years in Sweden, 1939-42. In 2013 he wrote a third section, continuing through his immigration to the U.S. in 1948. “I was seven years old when Hitler came to power,” writes Paul Kester. In these recollections he tells about how the events of 1930s Germany affected him and his family, as seen through the eyes of a young Jewish boy. His story continues with his escape to Sweden, where he spent the war years, and his eventual immigration to the United States.
