Kurzfassung:
To believe. To dare. To achieveŁ by Yaffa Golan reveals the inspiring life story of a woman who was born in Lebanon, grew up in poverty, and became the manager of a bank branch and a successful businesswoman. Yaffa Golan was one of the first women bank managers in the 1980s. She exposed an extensive bank fraud, dealt with death threats made against her, and was forced to resign from her job. Later, she exposed irregularities in not-for-profit associations and organizations that worked for Holocaust survivors, and here too she struggled to bring the truth to light, facing legal battles, persecution and financial ruin. Eventually, Golan found her place in the financial sphere, and her main mission has been to create precedents to help Holocaust survivors and to initiate legislation in the German parliament related to the German social pension for ghetto laborers. Yaffa Golan is currently marking an important achievement that is affecting the lives of Holocaust survivors worldwide. After she struggled for 23 years in Germany, an amendment has finally been passed by the German government, giving reparations, retroactive from 1st July, 1997, to all Holocaust survivors who worked in the ghettoes. Together with her amazing successes, the writer describes difficult times of financial ruin and mental distress, which led her to addiction, humiliation and pain. Against all the odds, she managed to recover, thanks to the power of belief, daring and love.
