Abstract:
The earliest manuscripts of the Greek text of Isaiah agree more with Codex Marchalianus than with the earlier and better-known codices Vaticanus, Sinaiticus, and Alexandrinus. Yet until now, no transcription of Marchalianus (Q) has been published. Our new digital transcription and collation of Q demonstrates that it exhibits fewer corruptions than even Alexandrinus and Sinaiticus’s best corrector. We here describe Q’s textual character and reliability for the Greek text of Isaiah, showing that Q’s importance extends beyond its marginalia and appendices.
