Abstract:
What binds Tullia Zevi and Liliana Segre so different by their origin, their experience, their experiences beyond their civil and political commitment against racism, anti-Semitism, the language of hate, beyond their activity of bearing witness to the memory of the Shoah? Their dedication and assumed commitment are certainly similar. Having taken – and take – the floor publicly in odifficult times of our time, in defense of democracy and the deepest values it embodies: freedom, peace, recognition of rights. Both seem to believe in the possibility of transmitting these values, in the need to cultivate the feeling of individual responsibility. Both put their hope in the future of the new generations. The traits that reveal their closeness are obvious, of course. However, I am convinced that the real point in common between Tullia Zevi and Liliana Segre lies above all in their aptitude for dialogue, in the fact of having privileged the relationship.
