    Abstract: "Jüdisches Leben in Deutschland gibt es schon sehr lange. Ein Erlass des ersten christlichen Kaisers Konstantin für das römische Köln sieht die Zulassung von Juden für städtische Ämter vor. Die Aktion 1700 Jahre jüdisches Leben in Deutschland im Jahre 2021 war geleitet von der Intention, eine Art Bestandsaufnahme zu versuchen. Sie sollte die Lebensverhältnisse, vor allem aber die Bedrängnisse der jüdischen Bevölkerung in der Vergangenheit thematisieren. Sie sollte darüber hinaus von der Gegenwart ausgehend Chancen für die Zukunft aufzeigen. Das ambitionierte Projekt verstand sich auch als Anfrage an die gesamte bundes­republikanische Zivilgesellschaft vor Ort. Ihr ist die Bremer Wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft, die Wittheit, in ihren Vorträgen nachgekommen, die nun in gedruckter Form vorliegen. Die Beiträge reichen von der Entstehung des Antisemitismus in der Antike bis zur Aneignung des Eigentums jüdischer Auswanderer in der Zeit des Nationalsozialismus. Sie erscheinen unter bedrohlichen Zeitumständen, die ein gedeihliches Zusammenleben der Menschen nicht nur in Deutschland schwieriger machen. Von Juden lernen lautet eine neue Veröffentlichung (Mirna Funk), die Mut machen will. Möglichkeiten der Einsicht und des Lernens bieten bei gutem Willen die furchtbaren Fehler und Irrwege in der vergangenen Deutsch-Jüdischen Geschichte.     Abstract: To date, scholars explored Bruce Nauman's oeuvre through various perspectives, concepts and premises, including linguistics, performance, power and knowledge, sound, the political and more. Amidst this vast and rich field, Nauman's pieces have been regarded by critics in terms of systematic skepticism, tragic skepticism, skepticism of the medium, and linguistic doubt. This book methodically analyzes the notion of performative skepticism and its relevance to various dimensions of Bruce Nauman's post-minimalist artistic practice. It is argued that Nauman performs the perpetual failure of perception, hence, demonstrating its doubtful validity to produce certain knowledge without allowing a resolution. This kind of skepticism, here called performative skepticism, exposes the impossibility of epistemological equipment to produce knowledge, and the impossibility of attaining certainty in bridging the gap between knowledge and the real

    Abstract: GOETHES DUNKLE SEITE Goethe und die Juden - das heikle Thema wurde allzu lange gemieden. Dabei war Goethes Verhältnis zu den Juden seiner Zeit mehr als zwiespältig. Neben einer gewissen Faszination standen Vorurteile und - besonders in Goethes späteren Jahren - eine regelrechte Feindschaft, die er jedoch bewusst kaum öffentlich äußerte. Auf Grund von bisher ungenutzten Quellen deckt der bekannte Goethe-Forscher W. Daniel Wilson diese schwierige Seite von Goethes Leben und Wirken auf. "In Jena darf nach alten Gesetzen kein Jude übernachten. Diese löbliche Anordnung dürfte gewiß künftig hin besser als bisher aufrecht erhalten werden." So schrieb Goethe 1816 in einem Brief. In seinen öffentlichen Äußerungen und Tätigkeiten stellte er sich meist als Freund der Juden dar, auch um seine vielen jüdischen Verehrer und Verehrerinnen nicht zu verlieren. Doch besonders ab 1796 ging er in harte Opposition gegen die Emanzipation der Juden. Diese Haltung stand auch nur scheinbar in Widerspruch zu seinen freundschaftlichen Kontakten mit einigen gebildeten Juden. Im zeitgenössischen Kontext fragt W. Daniel Wilson, wie Goethes Einstellungen zu bewerten sind und wen er überhaupt als "Juden" betrachtete. Wilson zeigt uns den Schriftsteller und Politiker, denn Theaterdirektor und den Privatmann Goethe und zeichnet ein differenziertes Bild, das dennoch klare Urteile nicht scheut. 275. Geburtstag am 28. Das Buch plädiert für eine einheitliche exegetische Tradition in Alexandrien, welche beide Gestalten der Tora – die griechische und die hebräische – berücksichtigt
    Abstract: The translation of the Torah into Greek in Alexandria is an intriguing puzzle. Why was it undertaken at all? Was it a need of the Alexandrian Jews? Or did the Jewish wisdom intrigue the Egyptian ruler? Is the legend of the miraculous creation of the Septuagint a manifesto of cultural assimilation into the Hellenic culture? Does the Alexandrian Greek biblical exegesis, especially that of Philo, aim to break with the Hebrew tradition? According to this book, Philo, although not fluent in Hebrew himself, moves in the same shared Hebrew-Greek Torah universe that a closer look on the Septuagint legend reveals as well. Die Übersetzung der Tora ins Griechische in Alexandrien ist ein intrigierendes Rätsel. Warum wurde sie überhaupt unternommen? War sie ein Bedürfnis der alexandrinischen Juden? Oder machte die jüdische Weisheit den ägyptischen Herrscher neugierig? Ist die Legende über die wundersame Entstehung der Septuaginta ein Manifest der kulturellen Assimilation an die hellenische Kultur? Bezweckt die alexandrinische griechische Bibelexegese, vor allem diejenige Philons, den Bruch mit der hebräischen Tradition und die Anpassung an die hellenistische Philosophie?
