Abstract:
Discusses changes made in the Oberammergau passion play in order to incur better understanding between Jews and Christians. States that these changes were not made due to Jewish demands, but stemmed from the discernment of the Christians themselves. Enumerates the main changes made in specific anti-Jewish passages, including the famous exclamation that Jesus' blood be upon the Jews in all generations. Shows how these words - through the centuries - incited audiences to pogroms. Comments that this passage in the New Testament has always been interpreted erroneously; Jesus' blood should not be considered as a curse but as a benediction for the Jewish people.
