Abstract:
Deals with the adjustment of Yiddish writers to American culture in the Lower East Side of New York at the turn of the 20th century, based on the example of Abraham Cahan. He was a Lithuanian-born Jewish American socialist newspaper editor and writer, in English and Yiddish. Cahan immigrated to New York in 1882. He was one of the founders of the Yiddish newspaper "Di Forverts", and was its editor-in-chief for 43 years.
