Abstract:
States that the role of the Żydowski Związek Wojskowy (Jewish Military Organization), the Betar underground organization, in the Warsaw ghetto uprising has been ignored in Israel because there were few survivors from the group and no documentation of its activities, and the left-wing Israeli government preferred to ignore the right-wing group. A book on the ŻZW by Chaim Lazar-Lita'i, "Matsada shel Varsha" (1963) was not well-received. Provides information on the group based on testimonies of former members of ŻZW and of the Korpus Bezpieczeństwa (KB, a branch of the Armia Krajowa) which helped establish the ŻZW in early 1940 and aided the group before and during the uprising, as well as testimonies of eyewitnesses.
