Kurzfassung:
Surveys Holocaust anthologies compiled and published between 1945-95. They include documents, poetry, prose, drama, and works of folklore, both from the wartime and postwar periods. The wartime anthologists, in Warsaw and in Lodz, tried to adhere strictly to the chronology of the events. The postwar attempts to anthologize the literature of the Holocaust were guided by "liturgical" considerations (using poems and songs to relate an epic story). The various ideological trends in postwar Jewry (Yiddishists, Zionists, etc.) tried to render their own views in their anthologies. In the 1970s-90s, more accurate and academic anthologies of documents and literary sources appeared, among them by Lucy Dawidowicz (1976), David G. Roskies (1989), and Lawrence Langer (1995).
