Abstract: Applying Freudian psychoanalysis to historical research, discusses the connection between the Jewish character and fate throughout the ages. States that the survival of the Jewish people is due to their maintenance of faith despite blood libels and other accusations, and to their self-confidence, self-criticism, enterprise, and unselfishness. Relates to ancient and medieval antisemitism, as well as antisemitism in the Soviet Union and present-day Holocaust denial. Notes that hatred of the Jews is unique among other instances of demonization, which usually fade away. Observes that Jews do not demonize their own enemies. The survival of the Jews as a people is unique in history, defying laws of probability and logic.
