Schlagwort(e): Livingstone, Ken ; Antisemitism History 21st century ; Holocaust, Jewish (1939-1945) Influence
Kurzfassung: In an incident on 15 February 2005, London's Mayor Ken Livingstone compared Oliver Feingold (a reporter for the "Evening Standard" who challenged him with a question about his support for a homosexual politician) to a Nazi concentration camp guard - just like such a guard, he got paid for doing what his "fascist" newspaper demanded. Feingold retorted that he was Jewish and felt offended by the comparison, but Livingstone persisted. Subsequently, Livingstone rejected demands for an apology. This became a topic for an Internet forum of highly educated young people. Their positions were entirely dependent on their ethnic identity: the Jews felt that, because of their history, Livingstone's comparison was specifically hurtful to them; the non-Jews refused to accept this claim, contending that to be called a Nazi would be equally insulting to all.
