Abstract:
Discusses a lacuna in Nathan Glazer's "American Judaism," which does not discuss the generation of young Orthodox Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe who came of age in the United States between 1900-1920, and how they were affected by Americanization. Focuses on activities set up by Orthodox Jewish organizations to keep these youngsters in the fold of Orthodox Judaism, with a focus on the Lower East Side in New York.
