Abstract:
Relates to the continuing impact of the Holocaust on Jewish identity in the U.S. and Germany. Presents results of a survey conducted in the late 1990s among 109 Jews living in the USA and 31 Jews living in Germany; the age range was 13 to 85. The results show that hostility toward Germany and knowledge of the Holocaust were related to Jewish identity among American Jews, but were not related to Jewish identity among German Jews. However, the Jews in Germany knew more about the Holocaust than did their American counterparts.
