Abstract:
In the wake of the pogrom in 1946, the Central Committee of Jews in Poland established a Central Special Commission aiming to safeguard the Jews of Poland, in cooperation with the Polish security apparatus. It became clear that the Commission could not rely upon the protection of the state militia (police), which sympathized with the antisemitic, anti-communist underground; thus, it had to set up a network of Jewish self-defense throughout Poland. Presents (on pp. 125-136) a report by the CSC to the Committee, dated 30 May 1947 (in Polish with an English translation), on attitudes toward Jews in postwar Poland and on the self-defense activities of the CSC. The text shows, inter alia, that the Central Committee of Jews in Poland was not a tool of the security police, but cooperated with it only in order to safeguard the country's Jewish communities.

Including the text of the report of the commission and its English translation (pp. 125-136).
